Profile

Sichuan Vocational and Technical College of Communications is a public full-time higher vocational college, sponsored by the People's Government of Sichuan Province and affiliated to the Sichuan Provincial Department of Transportation. Founded in 1952, the college has gone through four campus relocations and five name changes, and was independently upgraded to a higher vocational college in 2001. Since then, it has successively been approved as a National Demonstrative Higher Vocational College, a National High-Quality Higher Vocational College, a National Civilized Unit, and a National Advanced Unit in Vocational Education. It has also become a construction unit for the two phases of the national "Double High-Level Plan" (Plan for Constructing High-Level Vocational Schools and Specialized Programs with Chinese Characteristics).

The college has two campuses, located in the Cross-Strait Science and Technology Park of Wenjiang District and the New Energy & New Materials Industrial Park of Qionglai City respectively. It covers a total area of 1,040 mu, with a total building area of 386,200 square meters, among which 228,100 square meters are for teaching, research and administrative purposes. Currently, the college has 9,106 full-time on-campus students and 563 full-time teachers. Among the teachers, 415 hold master's or doctoral degrees, and 216 have senior professional titles. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment reaches 236 million yuan, and the library has a collection of 1.4309 million volumes. In addition, the college has built 155 on-campus integrated teaching sites for theory and practice, as well as 115 off-campus internship bases for post practice.

Rooted in Sichuan and deeply engaged in the transportation sector, the college has established 8 professional groups in close alignment with national strategies such as Building a Transportation Power and constructing the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, offering 37 majors. It has developed 2 national "Double High-Level" professional groups, 2 provincial "Double High-Level" professional groups, 6 national demonstration majors, 6 key majors under the Innovation and Development Action Plan of the Ministry of Education, and 2 national vocational college demonstration major sites.

The college has secured 2 "National Huang Danian-style Teacher Teams for Higher Education Institutions" and 2 National-level Innovative Teaching Teams for Vocational Education Teachers, leading nationwide; in the past two sessions, it has led and won 7 National Teaching Achievement Awards and provincial top awards, leading in the province; it has built the first provincial key laboratory among higher vocational colleges in Sichuan, currently has 5 provincial-level scientific and technological innovation platforms, and its teachers have won 24 scientific and technological awards at or above the provincial and ministerial levels, including the First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
